Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Established in 1983, The Honors Course is a private golf club located just northeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee in a community known as Ooltewah. The club's mission is focused on amateur golf and has hosted many amateur championships. The Honors Course has consistently been ranked by Golf Digest as one of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses" since it opened.

The Honors Course hosted the 2024 US Senior Amateur and is excited to be hosting the 2026 US Women's Amateur along with the 2031 US Men's Amateur. 

 

Job Description

The Honors Course is open seasonally from April 1 - December 21 each year. During those times Assistants are expected to work one weekend a month. During our off-season December 21-March 31, Assistants work only Monday-Friday. Assistants will work closely with Superintendent and Director of Agronomy to plan, direct, supervise and inspect all aspects of maintenance of the golf course. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, reliable and willing to work a lot of overtime, the typical in-season work schedule is as follows:

Monday 5am-5pm

Tuesday-Friday 5am-1pm

Saturday-Sunday 5am-9am

Must have a strong attention to detail and be passionate about the golf course maintenance industry. Assistant will make pesticide and fertilizer applications, maintain complete and proper records and keep track of all chemical and fertilizer inventory. Candidate will participate in the daily maintenance of the golf course greens, tees, fairways, native areas, bunkers and clubhouse lawns. Must have working knowledge of all turf equipment such as tractors, mowers, aerifiers, etc. The Golf Course Superintendent may assign additional responsibilities and tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work as a part of a team.
