Job Description

The Landscape Services Equipment Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining all of Landscape Services equipment including the various diesel and gasoline heavy equipment including preventative maintenance and emergency repair. This position will be in charge of updating information and entering new equipment within our computer system. This position is also responsible for maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies needed by Landscape Services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on Landscape Grounds, Turf care and a diverse array of diesel and gasoline heavy equipment including but not limited to:
    • Gasoline Combustion engines (1-25 hp)
    • Two cycle power equipment (line trimmers, back pack blowers, etc.)
    • Electric robotic mowers
    • Diesel large volume debris/leaf vac
    • Diesel farm tractors
    • Specialty turf equipment (Reel mowers, sprayers, aerators, etc.)
    • Diesel Heavy Equipment Machinery (Excavators, telehandlers, dump trucks, skid steers, etc. up to 100hp)
  • Check in new equipment and monitor warranty periods
  • Handle all asset, parts, and safety equipment inventory management using a computer software. (ex: Computerized Maintenance Management Software; CMMS)
  • Order any and all replacement parts needed for repairs
  • Operate grounds equipment as required for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: 
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Vocational or Technical training: Two-year Mechanic’s Degree/Certificate
  • Experience: 
    • Two (2) or more years of experience working on grounds equipment
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
    • The ability to perform hard physical work for longs periods in all kinds of weather
    • The ability to read and follow instructions
    • The ability to maintain, diagnose and repair commercial riding mowers, walk behind mowers, skid steers, mini-excavators, wood chippers, utility vehicles, push mowers, line trimmers, blowers, chain saws, etc.
    • The ability to operate/learn computer soft for new equipment check in, work request review, and inventory management.
    • Skills and ability to interpret electrical schematics for diagnostic purposes
    • Skills and ability to interpret hydraulic schematics for diagnostic purposes
  • Other Conditions: Valid Driver’s license
