JOB TITLE:  1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent         

DEPARTMENT:  Golf Course

REPORTS TO:  Golf Course Superintendent   

JOB SUMMARY  
Belle Meade Country Club is an 18-hole private golf course with approximately 30,000 rounds played annually. The course underwent a complete renovation by Rees Jones, Inc. in 2003 and features 419 Bermudagrass tees, fairways, and roughs, along with SR2020/1119 bentgrass greens. The Club is honored to host the following upcoming noted events:

  • 2027 Tennessee Golf Association Amateur Championship
  • 2028 U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur Championship
  • 2036 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:  

  1. Course Maintenance & Operations
  • Work under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain greens, tees, fairways, waterways, and other related areas.
  • Oversee and participate in daily course maintenance activities to ensure optimal playing conditions.
  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the irrigation system.
  • Supervise and contribute on special course projects as directed.
  1. Staff Supervision & Training
  • Assist in scheduling, supervising, and training maintenance staff.
  • Instruct team members on the proper operation and care of all golf course equipment.
  • Support personnel management, including time tracking, safety programs and performance evaluations.
  1. Turf & Chemical Applications
  • Assist with the calibration and application of fertilizers and sprayable materials.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of pesticides and fertilizers in compliance with regulations.
  1. Additional Responsibilities
  • Support the club’s commitment to high-quality course conditions and member satisfaction.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Education: 2-4 year degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, or related field with relevant internship experience.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of post-graduate golf course experience in a supervisory role.
  • Certification: Must hold a Tennessee CO3 Pesticide Certification.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in golf course irrigation operation, maintenance, and repair.
